MyChart: Your portal to more connected, convenient, and secure health care.
On November 9, the UVM Health Network launched its new and improved electronic health record system (EHR). As a result, you will need to activate your MyChart account to access your online health information. No new health information will be added to your existing patient portal after November 8.
Posted: Nov. 11 at 2:00pm: Due to extremely high call volumes, we ask that anyone who does not have an urgent MyChart activation issue to call back later today. We apologize for this inconvenience and we thank you for your patience.
The launch of MyChart at CVMC is part of a UVM Health Network-wide transition to Epic as its EHR. Epic and MyChart bring a more connected, safe, secure, and convenient online health experience to patients.

What is MyChart?
MyChart is the online patient portal associated with Epic, the electronic health record (EHR) used by the UVM Health Network.
An EHR is a real-time, digital version of a patient’s medical record and can be viewed and managed by authorized health providers. EHRs have patient portals that give patients 24/7 online access to their personal health information from anywhere with an Internet connection.
The Network is implementing Epic and MyChart at CVMC in two phases:
- November 9, 2019: Ambulatory departments and outpatient practices (see question 2).
- October 9, 2020: Hospital inpatient services, which often involve hospital stays.
Epic and MyChart are also launching at Porter Medical Center and Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital on November 9. The UVM Medical Center already uses Epic and their patient portal is called MyHealth Online. On November 9, MyHealth Online will be upgraded and renamed MyChart.
Which practices at CVMC will be getting MyChart for their patients?
MyChart will become available to patients of most CVMC ambulatory departments and outpatient practices on November 9, 2019.
Here’s a list of impacted practices:
- Adult Primary Care - Barre
- Family Medicine - Berlin
- Family Medicine - Mad River
- Family Medicine - Waterbury
- Green Mountain Family Practice
- Integrative Family Medicine - Montpelier
- Pediatric Primary Care
- Family Psychiatry
- Hematology & Oncology
- Infectious Disease
- Orthopedics (Podiatry, Spine & Sports)
- Women's Health
MyChart is NOT launching at the following locations:
- Radiation Oncology
- Day Hospital/Infusion Room
- Dialysis locations
- All Rehabilitation Therapy locations
MyChart is NOT replacing CVMC’s inpatient health portal—Meditech Central to Your Well Being—at this time. Patients receiving inpatient services, which often involve hospital stays, will maintain access to the existing inpatient portal until October 2020.
How long will I have access to my existing outpatient portal powered by eClinicalWorks?
Starting November 9, 2019, we will transition patients from their existing eClinicalWorks online patient portal to MyChart. Patients will still be able to access this current portal, but no new information will be added after November 9, 2019.
Will anything change regarding how I view or pay my bills?
No. Patients will continue to pay their bills online using the online e-billing service:
What information from my existing outpatient portal (eClinicalWorks) will be visible in MyChart?
The following information will be visible in MyChart after November 9:
- General and microbiology lab results going back 3 years
- Pathology and cytology lab results going back 10 years
- Imaging results interpretation for radiology and cardiology going back 5 years
- Future appointments
- Current problem list, allergies, medications, and immunizations. Please note, data will not be fully available on November 9.
- Care team members for primary care and those linked to appointments in the next 90 days.
