Biographical Information

Thomas Roland, MD is a radiation oncologist with 36 years of experience at the University of Vermont Medical Center and Professor Emeritus of Radiation Oncology at the University of Vermont Cancer Center. Dr. Roland served as the Medical Director of the Division of Radiation Oncology for 21 years and was Medical Director of the Radiation Therapy training program at the University of Vermont. He is a member of the UVM Medical School Admissions Committee. He is now semi-retired, enjoys playing the piano and violin, as well as being with two of his grandchildren who live locally.

Dr. Roland has always believed in having forthright discussions with his patients about the risks and benefits of any proposed treatment course. His approach is collaborative and he works closely with the Visiting Nurse Association and Palliative Care teams to assist in decisions about end-of-life care and support. On a limited basis, he continues to see patients with all types of malignancies at Central Vermont Medical Center and Rutland Regional Medical Center.
