Biographical Information

After growing up by the beach on the west coast, Dr. Ehret quickly caught on to the many nuances of Vermont’s seasons: “It has been a welcome change to experience the fall, snowy winter, mud season, spring, “dear” flies, cluster flies, Halloween ladybugs, snow days translate to no school days; summers.”

Rose Ehret, MD has been a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with CVMC’s Family Psychiatric Associates since 1997. “After living in a large city, I chose to come to CVMC because I was looking for a smaller, community based hospital as opposed to a large university/academic setting.”

Working at CVMC has been a fulfilling experience for Dr. Ehret in many ways. “The physicians here are very friendly and easy going, which makes for very healthy working relationships. In addition, it is wonderful to see colleagues both in a professional setting and on the sidelines of my kids’ soccer fields.”

Dr. Ehret also appreciates how CVMC has allowed the growth of her practice over the years, with the addition of new providers and services, such as evaluations, medication managements, and animal assisted therapy. Ehret is looking forward to rounding out the practice’s offerings by integrating a geriatric psychiatrist sometime in the future (the practice currently works with children, adolescents and adults).

Another benefit of smaller communities is that Dr. Ehret has the opportunity to really witness and take pride in the progress her patients have made over the years. “I get to see my patients grow and develop from early elementary years to being young adults. When they come back to me as adults, it's rewarding to hear about how their early years impact their current lives and future goals.”

Along the way, Dr. Ehret has managed to raise a family of four, two of whom were born right here at CVMC. “I personally chose CVMC to deliver my twins and the entire team of physicians and nurses were absolutely wonderful and made my stay especially comfortable.”

Needless to say, her children’s school, sports and music events keeps Dr. Ehret pretty busy when she is not working. “At the moment, I have a senior in high school, a freshman, and our twins are still in elementary school. They are here to stay and enjoy all the activities that this place has to offer.”

In addition to spending time with her children and husband, Dr. Ehret enjoys cooking, camping, travelling and photography (“I always have a camera in my car because you never know what you'll see on the road—such as a moose!)—but Vermont has also exposed her to new things. “The seasons in Vermont have introduced me to various hobbies that I probably wouldn't have back where I came from, such as gardening, landscaping…shoveling snow, etc.”
