The work of a SLP requires a graduate education, which is mandated for certification by the Council For Clinical Certification (CFCC) of ASHA. Applicants in speech-language pathologymust earn a graduate degree, successfully complete the required clinical experiences, and  pass a national examination. In Vermont, speech-language pathologists must also comply with state regulatory (licensure) standards to practice and/or have state education certification.
