Our Services

All inpatients are screened for their nutritional risks as part of the admission process. For a patient at nutritional risk, an appropriate plan of care will be developed by trained Diet Technicians, Registered Dietitians (RD), and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Patients may also receive nutrition intervention upon personal request. We strive to include family and other caregivers in a patient’s nutritional care.

Medical nutrition therapy, including education, is provided for the following conditions:

  • Hypertension
  • Diabetes
  • Gastrointestinal disorders such as colitis, pancreatitis, crohn’s disease, celiac disease
  • Diet during cancer treatment
  • Weight loss or gain program
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Cardiac disease
  • Wound healing
  • Enteral and parenteral nutrition
  • other conditions as warranted

Patient Menu - Room Service 4 You

A Registered Dietitian and culinary trained staff have planned a menu that is appropriate for your medical needs in accordance with the nutrition prescription your doctor has ordered for you. Meals can be ordered over the telephone using our Room Service 4 You program, or our nutrition staff will assist you in your menu selections on a daily basis.  We hope you enjoy our many homemade entrees and fresh, local ingredients.

For Your Visitors - Mountain View Café

Our Room Service 4 You menu is for our patients only. In our birthing center, all new mothers can have one person of their choosing dine with them, free of charge, at each meal.

All of our guests are welcome to visit our Mountain View Café which has many similar fresh, local and homemade choices.

Our NECI-Trained Staff

Staff from CVMC Hospital and Woodridge Rehabilitation and Nursing completed a six week New England Culinary Institute Certificate Program to improve their understanding and practice of the culinary arts.

Our Sustainable Food Practices

As part of CVMC's strategic initiative to GO GREEN, our Nutrition and Food Services staff has worked hard to help CVMC reduce its carbon imprint by implementing the following programs, which have now been in effect since late 2009:

  • Food Donations: Each month, CVMC donates about 200 lbs of food to the Food for Salvage program at the Vermont Foodbank.
  • Composting: We compost  about one and a half tons a month of unusable food waste. Our composting efforts have earned CVMC an award for excellence in composting from Central Vermont Solid Waste District (CVSWD).
  • Buying Local: In addition to participating in the Two Rivers Farm to Table program, CVMC buys food products from many local companies. Learn more.

Our Commitment to You

Our employees are trained in the National Restaurant Association’s ServSafe food handling program and by the New England Culinary Institute.  We compost, recycle, and buy from local vendors.  We are also a proud participant in the Health Care without Harm Healthy Food in Healthcare Pledge.
