Message from Judy

we believe that working together, we improve people’s lives

From a baby’s first gasp for air to a grandparent’s last wishes, we have a lifelong commitment to the health of the people in our community. You are more than our patients. You are our friends, our families and our neighbors. We believe that you, and all people, deserve to live the healthiest life you can.

At the heart of this belief lies our conviction that access to the best health care possible is a basic human right, that everyone is worthy of an outstanding provider and a hand on the shoulder when times get rough. But delivering this type of care does not happen in isolation. We need robust community partners to help us keep our kids healthy at school, provide vital transportation and feed those who are hungry. In the past hospitals didn’t feel like it was the core of their mission to invest in community determinants of health, like nutritious food. But the data is clear that if we invest with our partners to support the people in our community, it makes a difference in their ability to stay healthy. It is only by working together that we can maximize our ability to improve people’s lives.

As we gain strength from our community allies in health, so too do we benefit from our partnership with the University of Vermont Health Network. Through the last four years our collaboration has brought the insights of an entire network of health care experts to our door, increased our cost savings and widened our scope of providers. Working together we expand our strengths, keep our community vibrant and take care of the people we love.

In the following pages, you will read stories that showcase our work through our community partners. Together, hand in hand, with the power of ALL of our networks and the support of our generous donors, we are proud to share the journey of life with you.
