Diet Aide

Job Description

Maintains up to date and accurate information regarding patients’ diets, nourishsments and consultation needs for department records and provides information on same to Dietetic Technicians and Clinical Dietitians.

Assists assigned patients with selections of meals over the phone and when appropriate, in person.

Collaborates with fellow diet aides and host/hostesses to set-up and assure quality and accuracy of of patient meal trays and provide delivery of patient meals and nourishments.

Keeps a complete and accurate list of “add on” food items for each meal, and accurately tallies trayline items. 

Provides coverage of department phones and electronic diet and menu ordering systems at assigned time periods to ensure timely response to requests for patient trays, special needs, patient floor stock, and other requests. 

Collaborates with fellow diet aides and host/hostesses to procure and deliver patient unit floor stock items from the kitchen storage areas according to the stock list generated.
