Your New BabyInfant Feeding Choices: Although research has clearly shown the benefits of breastfeeding to both baby and mother, some new mothers elect not to breastfeed. CVMC is committed to supporting and educating new mothers regardless of their feeding preference. CVMC has Certified Lactation Consultants here on staff for assistance with breastfeeding issues. Hepatitis B Vaccine: We offer Hepatitis B vaccine immunizations to new parents for their newborn. The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommends immunizations to ensure that newborn infants are protected from Hepatitis B virus infection, a major cause of cirrhosis and liver cancer in the United States. Infant Car Seats: Vermont Law requires all children up to age 8 to ride in a federally approved safety seat. For more information, go to www.carseat.org.

Support Groups: At CVMC, we offer a number of Support Groups for new Moms and Dads as well as for those parents who have experienced a pregnancy loss. These groups bring together people in like circumstances that can share and support one another. - Bosom Buddies Breastfeeding Support Group. Meets the first Monday of every month. - Post-Partum Depression Support. Call (802) 479-4200 for additional information.
- Rocking Horse Circle of Support. A 10-week circle of support for women and their children. The curriculum is based on women and motherhood, social relationships, substance abuse and parenting the young child. For information, call (802) 479-1086.
