November 20, 2009

Judy Tarr, President and CEO of Central Vermont Medical Center is pleased to announce that Richard Andrew Burgoyne, M.D. has joined Waterbury Medical Associates, a CVMC medical group.

“I am happiest working in a rural family practice rather than in the suburbs.  Waterbury is a perfect fit and I enjoy working with colleagues and patients here in central Vermont,” stated Burgoyne. “I have a special interest in pediatrics and particularly enjoy caring for entire families.”

Dr. Burgoyne spent last year as a general practitioner / primary emergency responder at Avon Medical Care Centre in Stratford, New Zealand.  Prior to that he was a family physician and managing partner at River Family Physicians, P.A. in Easton, Maryland.

He graduated from Marietta College in Ohio with a B.A. in Biology, Cum Laude, and Phi Beta Kappa.  Dr. Burgoyne earned his MD at The University of North Carolina  and did his residency training in family medicine at East Carolina University.  Dr. Burgoyne is board certified by the American Board of Family Physicians.  He is also a member of the Wilderness Medical Society.

Immediately after college, Dr. Burgoyne was a Peace Corps Volunteer/Volunteer Leader.  He was a secondary school science teacher and did well construction in Sierra Leone, West Africa.
