Ann Longley receives National Dietary Managers Association Award

September 1, 2009

Berlin, VT – Ann Longley, president of the Vermont Dietary Managers Association was recently awarded a Silver Platinum Achievement Award for Excellence in State Leadership by the National Dietary Managers Association in Atlanta

Ann retired in January 2009  after six and on-half years as the lead person in the kitchen at Central Vermont Medical Center’s Woodridge Nursing Home, and continues to work there on a temporary basis as needed.

She is currently serving a two year term as president of the Vermont association. The purpose of the association  is “to encourage and assist in the development of the profession and to advance the skill of managing and/or directing food service operations.”

“When people are happy with their meals it feels good.  That’s what you are there for, to give a good nutritious meal,” said Ann.   “It’s hard work, but very rewarding if you do go on to management.”

Ann and her husband Graydon live in Barre.  She has two adult children and together they have 10 grandchildren.
