In 2003, Rose Black, a patient at CVMC and later a resident at Woodridge nursing home started an award to recognize the achievements of our nursing staff. Each year staff can vote on the nurse they feel exemplifies the spirit of the profession both at the hospital and at Woodridge.
On May 6, 2009 , CVMC thanked this year's recipients: Sheila McLean, RN and Korin Johnson, RN.
Sheila McLean, RN:
Sheila has been with CVMC since February of 1987! “ Sheila is one of the most compassionate nurses I have ever worked with,” states Kathy Pelletier, RN, Manager of the Women & Children's Unit/Pediatrics/Nursing Resource Pool. “ She not only cares about the patient but the family as well. She is always willing to help out in any situation. She readily volunteers to go to other Units when they are busy, not to mention that she offers her help when we are busy.”
“Sheila takes new staff under her wings and guides them through orientation.”“She does everything with a smile!” CVH is very pleased about Sheila being this year's 2009 Rose Black award recipient
Korin Johnson, RN “Korin has worked at Woodridge beginning in 2000 as an LPN,” states Joan Potter, RN, Director of Nursing at Woodridge . “Korin relocated and left in 2002, but returned to us in 2003. She obtained her RN in May of 2008, becoming the Charge Nurse of the Maple Grove Unit soon after. Korin has excellent clinical skills, but her demeanor and caring presence set her apart. She has the ability to remain calm in all situations, and is a reassuring force to staff and residents and their families alike. She has become a wonderful member of our leadership team.”
Woodridge is very pleased about Korin being this year's 2009 Rose Black award recipient.
