Medical Nutrition Therapy utilizes diet and lifestyle changes to treat or manage chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. Many of these conditions are improved by changes in diet, regular exercise and a healthy lifestyle.
At Central Vermont Medical Center, Medical Nutrition Therapy is provided by our Nutrition and Diabetes Counselors. Registered Dietitians and Nutritionists (RDNs) provide individual and group education and counseling, at various CVMC Medical Group Practice locations.
Nutrition and Diabetes Counseling offers the following two services:
Group sessions and classes on specific nutrition topics are also offered throughout the year as part of the Healthy Community Program.
Diabetes care and management is covered by all insurances. You will need a referral from your health care provider.
Many health insurance companies cover outpatient nutrition services; however coverage may vary and depend on your diagnosis.
We recommend you contact your insurance prior to coming to verify coverage, co-pays and reimbursements.
