Interfaith Chaplain

Carolyn Herz is our spiritual care coordinator. Patients and families are encouraged to speak with her about the spiritual issues surrounding hospitalization and illness. These services are available for people of all faiths, and also for those with no religious affiliations or practices. You may reach her at 371-4376 or by asking a staff member to page her.

Spiritual care services are usually available 7 days a week. When Carolyn is not on-site or on-call, every effort is made to provide continuous coverage by clergy from the community. Catholic rites are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

A chapel is located on the second floor of the hospital. It is a quiet sanctuary for reflection, meditation, and prayer.

CVMC’s Shawl Ministry

CVMC Shawl MinistryCentral Vermont Medical Center’s Spiritual Care Coordinator Carolyn Herz wants to remind knitters about CVMC’s shawl ministry.  Shawls are used to comfort people at the hospital in times of illness and stress.

People who choose to donate wool to make the shawl should use a worsted weight synthetic. Lion Brand Homespun is a nice cozy one. Yarn is also available from the Spiritual Care Coordinator’s office.

Completed shawls should dropped off at CVMC’s front desk at the hospital.
