Diagnostic Imaging

Diagnostic Imaging is another name for Radiology. At CVMC, our Diagnostic Imaging department performs exams to "image" internal body parts and systems. These images help providers diagnose injuries, diseases and other illnesses. Our staff works hand-in-hand with our physicians and patients to provide credible, courteous, high-quality and cost-effective advanced imaging services.

Radiologists

CVMC also employs American College of Radiology board-certified Radiologists (see list on right). These are doctors specifically trained to read and interpret the exams performed.

Technologists

Our staff is comprised of over 40 imaging professionals. Our technologists are state licensed and registered by credentialing boards such as:

  • The American Registry for Radiologic Technology (ARRT)
  • The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)

Many of our staff are trained and certified in multiple modalities (such as CT, MRI, Mammography, and Ultrasound), allowing us to offer services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Ensuring Safety

Radiology equipment operated by licensed technologists is completely safe and without significant health risks to you. Technologists use radiation-reducing measures such as minimizing the area exposed to x-rays, and lead aprons for patients of childbearing age. Pregnant patients are encouraged to notify the technologist before the exam starts.

Department Accreditations:

CVMC's Mammography Department is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and by the Food & Drug Administration's (FDA) Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA). The entire Department is also approved by the Joint Commission on Accreditation and Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). In addition to JCAHO accreditation, the imaging equipment is inspected by both Federal and State agencies such as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Vermont Department of Health & Human Services.

I registered online (very easy) before visit. Walked in and checked in very easy, got changed and had a locking locker (very nice). Had my exam - all went well as expected. Clinical staff was polite, professional, and nice to talk with, which made my visit very pleasant. Got changed and left and felt very satisfied - it was as simple as 1-2-3!

I was extremely impressed with the technician in Mammography. She was professional, personable and kind. What a great employee!
